Want to Save Some Money? Buy Used Video Games!

I am one of these people who just love to play video games. I am into a lot of different genres. I like single player shoot ‘em ups, and strategy games, as well as simulation games. What I don’t like is shelling out fifty bucks to buy a new game, or the latest update of Warcraft!

If you are anything like me you hate the way the game companies will entice us by telling us that the upgrade is really going to rock, and give us previews that make us salivate like Pavlov’s dog. Then they don’t tell us that it is not just an expansion pack, but a whole new version.

Why do they do this? They usually charge twenty bucks for an expansion pack, and fifty for the new version.

So what is a diehard gamer to do? Why not buy used video games! I have decided that the game designers have gotten enough of my hard earned dough, when they got me to buy a game that forces me to hand over more money for their exclusively compatible game system.

Where can you buy used video games? Actually, there are lots of places. One place you might not think of is your local Blockbuster Video Rental store. They have a section of games, and it is usually broken down by game platforms. You would be surprised at the number of great game titles you can find there. You might even check online at EBay, and Craigslist. However, I would caution you to be careful with these. Sometimes you get something there that might not work. Both of these websites do their best to weed out people who are selling items that don’t work, but no one is perfect.

I have also found stores in the area sell used video games. You can look around in shopping centers, and even some of the larger malls may have a small operation that deals in used games.

Even some of the biggies where I have gone to buy new games, like Game Stop has a section offering used games.

There is also a website called Wherehouse (www.wherehouse.com) that offers used games, and will buy games from you. If you have a game that you have beaten or are tired of, look it up on their site, and you will see how much they will give you for it.

Rather than paying top dollar for brand new shrink wrapped games, you can wait a few days or maybe a couple of weeks, and get used video games for less. To me it was a no-brainer!
