Hawaii is Shangri-la, and that is exactly what it is when translated from the ancient Hawaiian terminology. Hawaii has a climate that varies only several degrees in temperature year round and the sun constantly beams. The wet season is in January, but it isn't so wet that it discourages tourists. Maui is also a good place to windsurf, and has dozens of unique waterfalls. Here you can find high-rise resorts aplenty. Maui is substantially windier than Honolulu and rip flows are strong. Kihei's beach might be a lot calmer and friendlier to children.
Visit Kaua'i or the big island of Hawaii, or even the North Shore of Oahu for Oahu vacation rentals and some horseback riding. Of course, you can't miss the Luau. The whole family is sure to have fun in any one of the luaus found on any of the Hawaiian islands. The fire eaters and beautiful Polynesian dancers are sure to impress kids of all ages.
