Rolex has the reputation of being unhurried at releasing products - slower than a snail on horse tranquilizers. But Rolex, more than simply about releasing new products, is about staying with trends and making better their existing models. For the most part, they're just being careful. A lot of their "good" designs are more than 40-60 years old. It is difficult to mess with a great design and feel comfy about it. The new Rolex Date-Just, for instance, has made itself bigger, literally: from 36mm to 41mm (the 36mm model is retained though). And this year, the basic Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel line has featured a few modifications - and this made me an incredibly huge fan of this classic.

The new case actually works well because it's more angular than squared. This feature provides this version of the model a more retro look - instead of the outgoing look that defines the earlier models. Also, the watch is taken to a new level of appeal because of a few good changes to it. The use of a Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel comes first on the list. The outgoing model utilizes an aluminium insert - this is scratched too easily and is starting to look cheap. The ceraminc bezel, however, prides of numerals that are molded in - so the numerals won't scratch off. And since it is ceramic, the bezel won't get dull and is definitely not prone to scratches. This kind of bezel was first introduced in the new GMT Master and the DeepSea Sea-Dweller. Today, each of the diving watches of Rolex is starting to exude a unique character. There was a time when the Submariner and Sea-Dweller were clones to most people's perception, except for the helium escape valve and the lack of magnifier lens on the Sea-Dweller. Now, when you look at a DeepSea Sea-Dweller and Submariner, you can easily tell the difference.

The case has a few changes as well. It seems like the hands are fattened up even more, which makes for a good look. Rolex uses a silly name for it "Maxi-dial." Case size is still medium for the period, at about 42mm, but it looks good. On this two-tone model, the gold accents on the Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel and dial look truly nice with the gold center link on the bracelet. What's remarkable about all Submariner watches are the gold hands and indicators on the face. All-steel versions of this model, on the other hand, feature white gold on the face, instead of yellow gold.

Lume takes on a new story as well. Blue is the "in" thing - and not anymore green. The hour markers and hands are all given a ton of lovely blue glowing lume that's brighter (and better underwater) than the green that most people are used to. Plus, the lume on the Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel has the same treatment as on the SeaDweller - contained in a little case to prevent it from being damaged or wearing out. Rolex also keeps a portion of the case in a brushed look - and the rest, a polished look - to make things look serious.

Rolex's in-house movement has always gotten high grades for being accurate and hardy, and nothing has changed there. Still, each model is a certified Chronometer. Watch repair people always favour working with Rolex movements - they're simple and the parts are easy to come by. Rolex does a good job at creating a world-class mass produced movement and watch.

Here is the latest: the new Rolesor (mixture of gold and steel) Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel watch pictures will use a feature of the new DeepSea See-Dweller watches - glidelock deployments. Great news! It was just a few years ago that Rolex ultimately got rid of the outer pin holes on the lugs. On a personal note, I hated some of the older bracelet deployments; but this new development proves that if Rolex puts its mind into its products, it's certainly capable of creating the best bracelets in the industry. As mentioned above, the new Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel watches will indeed have a much upgraded bracelet in comparison to the outgoing models.

Enthusiasts of the Rolex Submariner Ceramic Bezel could go on and on praising this watch. But the true power of this model - notwithstanding of color, or style - is its versatility. For starters, this model looks good on anyone, on any outfit. With its high value retention and widespread appeal, and a design that keeps getting (incrementally) better. As much as the Rolex label may be overinflated in some matters, you can always depend on the staying power of the Rolex Submariner. Now, I just need to get one myself someday.
