A New Age In Film Jobs

At present, production proceeds to transfer to "third coast" areas - and film jobs and film internships are not anymore concentrated in the southern part of California. With more and more film production now taking place in different placements across the U.S., the demand for skill around the United States has increased significantly.

Yet, Southern California is the major hub of skills for the entertainment business. Need for talented authors, actors, directors, editors and other essential professional people remains unwavering in the Los Angeles region.

Meanwhile, New York City has also seen a growth in production with various network and well heralded cable TV series using it as their home base. The city also maintains a sustainable point of commercial and feature film production.

In between the coasts, though, a totally new era in feature film production has been launched in so-called "third coast," areas. Over the last 10 years, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida - otherwise called gulf states - saw a significant increase in production. The important people are still being imported from LA but the production crew have been hired locally. This then resulted to a significant increase in the amount of film jobs available in these states. This has created an exaggerated claim for talent asked to occupy these vacancies.

Other key busy regions like Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco have also based themselves as film production hubs. For example, TV drama, "The Beast" (featuring the deceased Patrick Swayze) and better film production "The Dark Knight" have been the filmed in Chicago.

The film industry has established itself to be strong during the past economic turmoils - but this does not mean that the industry is totally recession-proof. This can be explained by the fact that people try to find consolation in entertainment - in TV shows and flicks - when recession hits.

The fact that production has entered the digital age also caused a boost in demand for talent. Today, the demand has never been greater as film production has been taking place virtually anywhere and in new ways.

The business always needs new actors including writers and film directors with novel ideas. Still, the increased need for "below-the-line" talent to work in essential production positions is also rising. Talented, educated personnel to function as art directors, sound people, cinematographers, grips, and lighting people, are precious element of any film production.

Therefore, it is healthy to assume that as film production remains to migrate to other areas and means of filming continue to diversify, the need for new skill in the film industry for film jobs and internships shall continue to increase.
